How to Use Laptop as Monitor for PS3?

is it possible to use a laptop as a monitor for the PS3 gaming experience? Well, the answer is yes. If you are wondering how to connect your laptop with your PlayStation 3 system in order to use the whole laptop screen as your monitor for playing games and watching movies on PlayStation 3, here is the ultimate guide. But before we show you How to Use Laptop as a Monitor for PS3? you need to know that the right connection is not included in many laptops.

How to Use Laptop as Monitor for PS3?

There are three types of connections that can be used with the PlayStation 3 console using a SIM Card (Universal) Connector Cable (Component). These connections include:

HDMI, DVI, and Component. The PS3 system will automatically choose the appropriate video mode for these different types of connections. The best option is to use an HDMI cable as it supports the highest resolution and provides better sound quality than other cables. You can simply buy an HDMI to HDMI cable for connecting the laptop screen to the monitor.

Why Use Laptop Screen as PlayStation 3 Monitor?

There are 2 reasons why you should use a laptop screen as your PlayStation 3 system monitor.

Reason No 1.

It’s simple to set up it just by using one single USB connector

Reason No 2.

You can use it for watching traffic, weather, and news on a large screen. It can be used as a second monitor of your laptop

Connecting the PlayStation 3 Console to Laptop Screen

You need to begin by opening the PlayStation 3 system’s display menu. For this, you must press the “PS” button when in game mode (on your controller) to access the display menu. You need to go to “Screen Settings” by using your controller’s directional buttons and then press the “X button”.

Then, you need to select your preferred resolution for your laptop screen as your monitor by using left or right arrow keys on your controller. Now, go back one step in order to choose between the HDMI, DVI, and Component modes. However, chances are your laptop won’t have an HDMI port available so you’ll be left with the next best options – DVI or Component.

Once you’ve selected either the DVI or Component, you should plug in your SIM Card (Universal) Connector Cable into the corresponding PlayStation 3 console’s USB port. Then, you need to use the other end of the cable and connect it to your laptop screen as your monitor.

You can now go back to Display Settings on your PlayStation 3 console’s display menu and choose either DVI or Component for better image quality on the PC mode. You can also adjust the image quality by going to “Advanced Settings” and changing the “HDMI Resolution”, “DVI Resolution”, or “Component Resolution”.

Note that if you select a mod that’s not supported by your laptop screen as a monitor, then it’ll automatically go back to using your regular desktop. In addition, you can’t use RGB for DVI / Component modes.

Using a laptop screen as a monitor for PS3 is very simple and offers excellent results for its price. It also doubles the amusement time because you can use it for other activities like watching movies, checking the news, or traffic on the large screen while playing PS3 games at the same time. However, if your laptop or PlayStation 3 console isn’t compatible with this method or you simply don’t want to spend money on a cable that’s not included in most laptops, you should look for other options like EJGAME Controller Adapter, Converter for PS5/PS4/PS3 that can be bought from Amazon.
